Senior Software Engineer – C++ /Windows

Salary c £28K - £45K + package



Our clients are responsible for the delivery of communication systems to numerous customers in the UK and Europe utilising a hosting software suite developed in the US. In an attempt to provide enhanced European customer focus they are now looking to build a team in the UK capable of tailoring the software suite for European programmes. The successful C++ Software Engineer will ultimately become the Subject Matter Expert within the UK, providing support to programmes along with having involvement in Bids and proposals. This will include generating software architectures, design, implementation and test. The ideal C++ Software Engineer will have a record of several years of developing Windows based software applications and involvement in the whole software development lifecycle (including requirements capture, high and low level design, coding, test, integration and final verification and validation).



Key competencies will therefore include:

• Requirements capture

• Estimating software development costs

• The ability to mentor other engineers

• Ideally experience of applying standard aerospace and defence standards for the development of software

• The ability to develop solutions with the minimal instruction

• Be comfortable in liaising with customers



Technical skills should include:

• Educated to degree level (or equivalent)

• Solid C++ programming experience

• Windows (XP/2000) development

• Use of integrated development environment (Visual Studio)

• Full software lifecycle experience

• Use of systems engineering tools such as DOORS, ClearCase, ClearQuest etc

• UML

• Java – ideally



The successful software engineer must be able to attain UK security clearance to SC level.



There will be some travel involved – i.e. initially to the US and then a little to customers within Europe to understand requirements
